Money Saving Tip - Holiday Shopping Money Saving Tips!

Saving money with your holiday shoppingAs hard as it is to believe, the holidays are fast approaching and while there might be no way around the holiday shopping ahead of you, there are some shopping tips and tricks that can help you save money this holiday season. First things first, before you even hit the computer or stores, start by making a list ... yes, just like the jolly guy in red. Having a list and a budget will save you money and time in the long run.

In-Store
  • Don't be afraid to ask "is that your best price?" You'd be surprised how many places will negotiate on a ticketed price (tools, appliances, bikes, electronics and more!)
  • Ask if there are any coupons available ... once again you'd be surprised at how often this has panned out to a savings!
  • Do your research and be aware of prices so you can ask for price matching. Many stores will price match and some will even beat their competitors by 5%-10%
  • Check the store's website and facebook page. Often times you can find flyers and promotions happening on store websites and Facebook pages are a great source for promotional information.
  • Sign up and save - many stores will send out coupon codes or special offers if you sign up for their newsletter (you can always unsubscribe).
  • If the savings are good enough, sign up for an instore credit card. The trick here, to avoid overspending and building up debt, is to immediately pay for your bill with cash or your debit card. At most stores now, you can pay right at the same cashier immediately after your credit purchase. (Click Read More below for full article...)

Dell, Sony and More - Laptop Deals

laptopThe perk of being from the typewriter era was that I never told my mom, “I reeeallly need to have one!” There was no way I was lugging that back and forth to school - up hill both ways and through four feet of snow. Times are a changin’ though and it seems everyone “needs” a laptop/notebook/netbook for school. With back-to-school deals already popping up, we thought we’d put together the skinny on a few laptop deals.
